What is proper etiquette in dealing with cross grain for a granite backsplash

Ideally you want your granite back splash to match in grain, however, if it does not you have a couple of choices, either make a pattern out of the different grains or find a way to but the different grains up to a corner or where a cut is in the wall, that will hide the miss match.

One of the things to remember when you are dealing with the cross grain is always sand against the grain for a smooth finish.
