Mints are among the toughest of all plants and survive transplanting well. I would consider replanting it in a pot and setting the pot with plant and planting mix in place so that the mint will not run over everything.

Mints transplant very well. Either dig up the entire plant, or a portion of the plant with some roots attached. Replant in desired location and water immediately.

Just like any other plant, transplanting spearmint is easy and simple. Dig a hole where you want to plant it , pour water into hole before setting in plants, fertilize if necessary, transplant spearmint into new hole, filling in around plant with plenty of dirt, pack down tightly and water again.

Spearmint is easy to transplant. You dig out the plant, making sure to include the roots. Prepare the soil in the new spot; work in some peat, mulch, topsoil and fertilizer. Dig the soil sufficiently deep to cover the roots. Place plant in the hole and cover loosely with soil and press down. Water well. Dig into sunny spot.
