Butternut squash needs fertile, well-drained soil along with consistent watering and at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day to produce the best yields of squash. The vines will sprawl across the ground up to 15 feet or so and require enough garden space to do so.

Butternut squash requires good garden soil, with good drainage, a relatively long growing season, and a fairly large amount of space, as the plant has a tendency to spread.

They are super easy to grow the only thing you need to pay attention to is where the morning sun comes from and when you plant the seeds make sure they are getting the morning sun and the rest the plants and squash take care of them selves there is no need to fuss with them.

They need growing space, so plant seeds shallowly at least four feet apart in warm soil after frost danger passes. Hoe weeds, and do not allow soil to dry out.
