What is involved in changing the window motors in a GMC Suburban?

The windows in my Suburban will no longer go up and down, I am wanting to change the motors myself to save money.

Disassemble the door panel and determine if the regulator is good. Also, check for any cuts in the wiring as this could cause it to short out.

The hard part is getting the door off. A lot of it will be screws which is simple but you will also have a lot of plastic clips holding the door panel on. You need to be careful with these, try using a flathead screwdriver to remove the carefully. After that the motor is visible and easy to replace.

Commonly it is not the motor that is causing such a problem. Rather, check first the window riser switches, fuse and it's wires. Switches are usually the first to give way. Followed by a loosely connected wire. The other thing to check is the riser guide and weather strips. These may be rock-hard already causing to stuck up.

most of these motors are riveted in it is as simple as remove the window cut the heads of the rivets off replace the motor and rivet back in place you can also replace the rivets with bolts and lock nuts. but if you havenever done it before this can turn into a long long ordeal
