Remove fuel pump fuse and start engine. Let run until engine dies. The fuel pressure is now relieved. Remove Negative batt cable, make repairs then replace fuse and cable.

If your vehicle has a schrader valve on it's fuel rail, simply depress the valve until no more fuel sprays from the valve. As an alternative, you can pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine over several times to expend the fuel in the lines.

Under the hood on the fuel rail there will be a little stem with a plastic cap on the end. The stud looks just like a stem on a tire where you would fill it with air. Just take a small screw driver and push it in until the pressure in system is relived.

Usually the fuel system will have a valve used to relive the line pressure. You can shut off the fuel pump and run the engine until it dies.
