Heuristics are a set of rules that someone or something follows in order to reach an objective. The word is commonly used relating to programming computers and artificial intelligence.

It is basically defined by having the ability to make an educated guess about an event or to what extent common sense is used to approach a situation. It is a method that is used by people everyday even if they do not realize that they are using it as they create solutions for things with best possible answers.
