What is happening when my HP Pavilion computer locks up?

ok well the lock up could be beacuse there is to many programs running at once or there is not enough memory to support the program running it could just be a windows problem and you might have to reinstall windows get more memory or run a msconfig or worse case it might be spyware

I think you have to upgrade your BIOS which can be done from HP Pavillion site. May be it could be Windows compatibility issue

It could be a lot of things, but most likely a virus. Try running an antivirus program to catch any things?

When a computer is locked up it is often running at full speed, executing data that was never intended to be used as a program. Even though the computer is running, you see nothing happening because the display is not being updated properly by the runaway central processing unit.
