Its a viral disease that affects a dogs stomach, lungs, blood and can cause neurological problems as well. Treatment must be swift and aggressive and still results in an 80% death rate. The virus is spread through infected food, water, soil, mucus and waste. You can keep your dog from getting it by making sure to get its puppy shots.
