What is Contra dancing?

I have a friend who wants me to go with her but I have no clue what it is.

Contra dancing is an aspect of English folk dancing where couples dance in two long lines. They are usually very traditional.

Perhaps your friend was referring to Conga dancing? This is a traditial Cuban street dance, where the dancers form a line. It's in 4/4 time. StepStep, StepStep, Step, KICK!

Contra dancing is a social type of dance based on folk dancing such as Country English Dancing. The dancers forming two lines with partners facing each other.
