It's used in place of fiberglass insulation in buildings. It's made of the same thing as newspaper, and can even be recycled newspaper. It's typically blown (wet or dry) between the studs of the wall and effectively insulates the building from both heat, moisture and noise.

cellulose insulation is some sort of grayish color plant fiber used as insulation in residencies. It's usually installed in roof and wall cavities to prevent sounds and cold from external climate.

Cellulose installation is derived from plants. It's used to keep your house warm. It's actually fairly good. You use it when you are building your house from scratch and then you place installation sheets in it. You can get sheets made from differing types of substances but cellulose is actually one of the best.
