Canda became independent gradually. "Canada Day" on July 1, comemmorates the creation of Canada as a self-governing "Dominion" in 1867, but it was not fully autonomous until the Statue of Westminster in 1931, and Canada did not have its own flag or national anthem until the mid-1960s.
