Benzoylecgonine is the metabolite of cocaine (metabolized by the liver), and is excreted in the urine. It is the compound tested in most urinalyses when testing for cocaine abuse. It is also used as an active ingredient in topical analgesics used to relieve muscular pain, a prescription drug called Esterom.

Also known as BZ, Benzoylecgonine consists of ecgonine benzoate. It is the main ingredient found in the prescription drug Esterom which is a topical analgesic. Benzoylecgonine is also the primary metabolite of cocaine, and is the compound that is tested for in a cocaine urinalyses. Small amounts of BZ can also be found in other over the counter medications.

If you are actually referring to benzoylecgonine (ecgonin benzoate), it is the primary metabolite of cocaine. It is formed in the liver once cocaine is metabolized. It is then excreted in the urine. It is also a major component of Esterom, a drug that is used topically to relieve muscle pain.
