On September 21, 2007, the San Francisco Giants stated that they would not re-sign Bonds for the following season in 2008. Barry Bonds' agent has stated that Bonds is still not retired althogh as of December 9th, 2009, Jeff Borris, Bonds' agent, was said to have stated that Bonds has played his last major league game.

Barry Bonds seems to be laying low since his whole steroid abuse allegations came out. It looks like some time in 2011 he will go to trial for his role in lying to a federal grand jury about his involvement in taking illegal performance enhancing drugs. Barry Bonds has pleaded not guilty in those accusations.

According to Barry and his press reps, he hasn't yet retired but he isn't in the best physical shape to play right now. He's waiting for someone to ask him to play again so he can get back out there.

He is being tried by congress for perjury.He lied to congress about his use of steroids and his relationships with trainers who are known steroids distributors. He is being tried by a jury of his peers in front of a grand jury. If he is convicted he could spend 15-25 years in jail.
