Question by  Illi (61)

What is appropriate teen swim wear?

My daughters pick out swimming suits that are barely there and we can't find a happy medium.

Appropriate teen swim wear can include anything from one-pieces to string bikinis. However, bottoms should not be too low-cut on top or too high-cut in the legs and behind, and bra coverage should be relatively substantial, with no risk of anything falling out.

I think a one piece swimming suit is a lot more appropriate then two pieces. If its going to be a two piece then it should be a tie kinie that looks like one piece. The swim suits with short bottoms are much better than the bikini bottoms also, these just show way too much.

A good general rule of thumb, for any age swim wear, is that if you cannot actually swim in the suit without it coming off or exposing too much, it's not appropriate to wear. A lot of one pieces are super sexy, but she may not go for that. Stick with a conservative-sexy bikini.

Your daughters probably don't want one pieces, so the best next thing is a tankini. You can find modest tankinis - you just have to look for them.
