Question by Ladymacbeth1980 (86)
Can I use the word swum in reference to swim.
Answer by Bashir (19)
Yes -- it is the past participle of the verb to swim. For example: "I have swum laps every morning for three years. "
Answer by Phil97 (569)
Swum is a correct form for the verb, swim. It must be used when the speaker or writer needs a past participle. It is not the correct form for the past tense of the verb. Therefore, one swam a river, but one has swum the river.
