What is an RBI?

I have been watching baseball with my boyfriend and he talks about this all the time, I have no idea what it means.

An RBI is a Run Batted In, which is given to a hitter when a baserunner comes home as a result of a hitter's actions. This may include a hit, a sacrifice fly, a groundout on which a runner scores, or a bases-loaded walk (but not a double play or an error).

If someone is on base and the person batting hits the ball and the person who is on base is able to make it home, that is called an RBI or run batted in.
