An indian penny, or Indian Head Cent, was a penny minted in Philadelphia from 1859 to 1909. It was so named for the Indian face printed on one side.

The Indian penny, also known as the Indian head penny was a one cent coin that was first minted in 1859. The front of the coin features the head of Liberty wearing a Native American head dress, the back has a wreath with the words "One Cent" in the middle.
