I like the tall perennial in my backyard because it blooms every year and is very high so it covers the post at the end of the deck. I planted a perennial geranium between the two bushes because when it blooms it will break up the green in the flower bed.

A perennial does not have to be planted yearly. A perennial will flower year after year. Some perennial plants can last for many years. Some perennials are bulb flowers. Different areas have different perennials. Perennial roots below the surface of the ground to protect the plant for a longer time than annuals.

This year, rather than plant annuals in my garden that will need to be replaced next year, I have decided to plant perennials, so that I may enjoy the fruits of my labor for years to come.
