Most of the colleges utilize the latest edition of Harbrace's english guide. Any of the editions will work for punctuation because the only updates are in style.

Using the grammar checker in a word processor such as Microsoft Office, is a good start and genrrally catches the major punctuation errors. One of the most effective guides is called "The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation", which has easy to understand answers for you.
