Generally, teachers k-12 make the same ammount in a district. Your salary grows each year with expierence and education(you make more with a Masters). A high starting is 40K

Teachers aren't in it for the money. Teachers teach for the love of teaching, of learning, of imparting education. Salaries can range from the low 30s in a private school to nearly $100,000 for a tenured teacher with an MEd plus advanced training/certifications. It depends primarily on the school district.

If your desire is to teach young children, the rewards will come from the work. However, the salary differs by state, but will begin the neighborhood of $35k-$45K as a start depending on where you are.

Teaching isn't the most profitable job out there, especially teaching elementary school. Unless they are married/partnered with someone making more money, it can sometimes be hard for teachers to make enough money to support a family with kids. If you are just thinking of a job that will support you, it might not be terrible.
