Answer by  Morpheus (35)

Amyl alcohol is any alcohol with the formula C5H11O. There are 8 isomers and it refers to 1-pentanol if otherwise unspecified. Alternatively, the term may also refer to a mixture of such alcohols, which can be obtained from fusel alcohol, a product of fermentation and found in cider, beer, wine, whiskey, and other spirits.

Any amyl alcohol is any alcohol that has the chemical formula C5-H12-O. There are a number of different types of amyl alcohols because of the different number of ways the carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen molecules can be arranged. Most amyl alcohols are used as solvents in laboratories and in esterification processes.
