Achilles tendon or calcaneal tendon, is a tendon that is found on the posterior leg. It is an attachment to the calf and soleus muscles to the heel bone.

The bulk of the muscle originate in tendon and insert as a tendon likewise the gastrocnemius muscle which insert at the posterior surface of the calcaneus is called Achilles tendon.
