An absent spouse divorce is when the husband or wife is not present for one reason or another for the divorce proceedings. The judge will make a rulling based on testimony.

It is a special type of divorce for circumstances where one spouse has simply disappeared and cannot be found. Efforts must be made to find them, and it takes time.

An absent spouse is when 2 people are married but one of the spouses has moved away and hasn't been heard from by the other spouse over a long period of time. As long as they don't have any kids or property involve; he or she could file for divorce without the other persons signature.
