What does the bible say about divorce exceptions for the wife?

The Bible says very little about the reasons a woman can divorce. The Bible was written in a time and culture where men controlled women and women had very few rights. Jesus spoke about divorce and discouraged it except for reasons of infidelity. God's best plan was for lasting marriages.

The large one is adultery. If you are cheated on then you have the right to a divorce. The bible is clear that you men are to me faithful.

In the book of Matthew chapter 19 and verse 9 Jesus states that a person who divorces his wife for any reason other than fornication, would be committing adultery if he marries another woman. This would also apply for the wife, if her husband committed fornication then she would have the God given right to decide to divorce her mate.

the bible does state some reasons like "marital unfaithfulness" can be a reasons for women to divorce. however, marital unfaithfulness can be interpreted in many ways.
