Stipulation in divorce terms means a pre-condition to apply for the divorce. Some of the pre-conditions for divorce could probably be adultery committed by one of the two partners, one partner missing for seven years, mutual consent, living seperately without any communication or contact whatsoever for at least two years, etc.
