Seed ticks are the larval form of adult ticks. They are very small, the size of a seed, hence the name.

Seed tick is a slang term for the larval stage in the development of a tick. They are found in high brush, backyards and wooded areas. The longer they are attached to an animal or human the larger they get. They are the size of a flea and orangish red. Carry spotted fever and lyme disease.

Seed ticks are ticks that have hatched after a male and female mates on animal "host". The female "deposits" them after falling on the ground where they hatch. She "deposits" thousands at a time.
