A resultant in a pipe organ is two pipes actually being sounded but only one note actually being played. It's usually the 5th below the note being played.

A resultant is a combination of pipes that allow the listener to hear lower pitched tones. They pitches actually are not lower but sound that way, about an octave lower. Resultants extend the rang of organs, allowing a smaller organ to sound much bigger and have more range than it's size would indicate.
