RPTV or rear projection television is a form of large-screen television display technology. Up until the mid-2000s, most large screen TVs marketed to consumers used rear projection technology. A projector projects the image onto the screen.

A rear projection TV is a television with the projector element at the back. If the television is rather bulky, and seems to taper away from the screen, like most CRTs (cathode ray tube TVs), then it's a rear projector. If the television is rather flat, like LCDs (liquid crystal display TVs), then it is not.

It is a television that uses a type of technology call rear projection to display an image on the screan. It is an infierior technology and is not used today with any television sets mainly because it has a terrible over scan problem. The TV essentially has a projector behind a a screen in where the image is displayed.

A rear projection I believe is one that projects from back rays to forward. It's quite good and a new model in t.v.

the image from a rear projection tv come from behind the screen instead of the traditional in front of the screen. They are less costly then the average lcd or plasma tv.

a rear projection TV is Just what it sounds like. it is a TV that has a projector in the rear of the set that projects an image onto a screen. it is common in big screen sets. Imagine a movie theater but in reverse, the light comes from behind the screen.
