A heart rate over 100 bpm is considered high, though not unhealthy in the absence of other signs of illness. Smaller persons, like smaller animals in general, tend to have a faster heartrate. Getting more aerobically fit and exercising daily tends to lower a person's resting heartrate over time.

A normal heart rate depends on a number of factors including age, your activity level and your relative level of stress. If your doctor says that yours he too high, he/she is probably right.

A normal heart rate for an adult is 60 to 100 beats per minute. A high heart rate can indicate medical problems, so discuss this with your doctor further.
