A line wrench is similar to the box-end wrench but instead of encircling a nut entirely it has a narrow opening just wide enough to allow the wrench to fit over fittings used on lines & tubes, such as plumbing or fuel line fittings.

A line wrench is used to tighten or loosen flare nuts that are usually found at the connections of hydraulic or fuel lines.

A line wrench is a tool that is used when a standard open end wrench will not grip good enough. This would typically be for any fitting which is in-line.
