A house parent is someone that is not attending the college, but may have at one time, and is the authority figure of the house.

A house parent is parents that help you with problems that come up while you are at college and your parents can't be there for you. They assist you with any answers to questions that you have. House parents try to fill the empty spot that you have for your parents.
