If you are frequently receiving text messages I think that it is best to just stick with a simple beeping sequence or short phrase. If you choose to have a song or longer phrase it can get a little tiring hearing it every time you receive a message.

Well really ringtone are more of a personal thing based on what you like. Just make sure it is clear and can be heard from a pocket or purse.
