You can receive text messages in multiple ways. You can first install outlook express or ms office components like ms word and you have received the text messages. First you have receive the message outlook express ,then another way is ms-word and prompt. Ms word is usually the best way for receiving text messages easily for the messages

I know Skype has a really good text messaging service available to use on the computer, you may have to pay, but you can send regular text messages to whoever you want. Try the Skype website.

Some IM software allows for you to SMS phones and then they can respond to your SMS. I know Yahoo! does it.

You can send a text message usually from an email address (phonenumber@carrier. com). One the person with the phone receive's the text and replies back it will show up in the email address it was sent from.
