Most veterinarians can prescribe a safe sedative for your cat for a car ride. Many vets prefer to use one called acepromazine.

Consult with your vet for a recommendation. He or she will prescribe a sedative according to your cat's weight and also advise you of any side effects.

Herbal Calmer and Pet Calm both have good reputations. These are non-prescription. Jefferspet. com often has items, and I trust them entirely from experience. However, vets are very leery of sedating cats, and you need to consult your vet before doing so. Many things need to be factored in such as weight and age.

I would contact your vet for his advice. Vets have sedation medications. Sedating cats can be dangerous. I have heard of a product which calms the animal and you can purchase it at a health food store. It is called "rescue remedy". Once again, check with your vet before using.

Never Sedate your cat unless it's your last resort. Try putting your car in a carrier or kennel in the car. If that doesn't work have your vet recommend one.
