Use a heavy cuticle cream or other ointment on the cuticles every time you wash your hands and before you go to bed each night.

During the winter months, your skin can become dried out, this includes the cuticles on your fingers. Try using a moisturizing hand cream on the affected area to help alleviate pain and repair the damaged cuticle and prevent further damage to the area. Some drug stores sell a cream or lotion specific to the type of skin of your cuticles.

There are several over the counter remedies made specifically for dry cuticles, but you can also use things you have around the house if you don't want to buy a specialty product or you want a natural solution. My favorites for dry cuticles are olive or almond oil, as well as Lemony Flutter from Lush Cosmetics.

Apply vitamin E nailpolish to your cuticles. This will keep them supple. You want to use as much lotion as possible to your hands overall.
