Compare different players and look for one that comes with an airplane power adapter. Look for the longest play time on a single charge in case you cannot use the adapter. If possible, look for one that comes with extra batteries. Don't forget headphones.

I say skip the whole concept of portable dvd player and you can get a laptop really cheap. They usually hold more power and last longer. Plus no kid can just sit and watch a movie the entire time. We are in the age of ADD. Then they can do other things.
