A good object that can be used as a wedding card holder would be to use a large box that has had a small slit cut out of the top of it, then you wrap the box in wedding paper or other festive wrapping. Make sure that the box is large enough to be obvious if stolen.

The last wedding I was at had a birdholder that they decorated as the wedding card holder. The bird house was tin and had a slot in it but they had painted it nicely to make it look like a work of art all on its own. Give it its own table and let it add dimension to the decor.

Wedding card holders can be made from lots of different things. My husband and I used tea spoons with tea bags in them. My friend used a small jar with M&M's inside. You can attach them to a small bag filled with mints or other candy. Be creative.

If you are meaning place card holder, the cheapest way would be to just make the cards and slip them between the fork ends.
