A good recipe to resemble nectar for you humming birds consists of simple white table sugar and water. Slowly add 1 part sugar to 4 parts water while heating on your stove. Bring this to a 2 minute boil to remove any chlorine. Remove from heat and let cool.

Take four cups of water and bring to a boil. Add one cup of sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. You don't need to add anything extra such as honey, food coloring, etc.. Fill your hummingbird feeders and store the extra in the refrigerator in a designated pitcher.
