Find out if he has any game systems; if so, go buy a video game and he'll be thrilled. If not, I would recommend an "outdoorsy" item, such as a basketball, Vortex, etc. If all else fails, go with some cold, hard cash.

If he is becoming mature physically, give something that embraces his becoming a man, such as a good electric razor or cologne or after shave -- or a gift basket with men's toiletries. If not, focus on his interests and get him something along the lines of his interests, such as an awesome book, rc vehicle, sports equipment, etc.

An excellent gift for a thirteen year old boy, or any teenager, is the gift of cash. At this age, it is difficult to know which article of clothing or video game will appeal, and allowing the recipient to shop for himself is a sure hit!

Maybe a new video game, or a Harry Potter book. Maybe some sports equipment or some science equipment like a microscope. It depends on what he's interested in. Good luck!

Unless you know exactly what he wants, you might want to just give him a gift card to a store he likes, or give him a card with money. It may seem impersonal, but he'll love it.
