A good design would be a bar that's shaped like an L. It would give division into another room and would give lots of space.

A good design is to have sink and range top on the other side of the eating area with a raised level in between as a safety precaution.

A breakfast bar is very convenient because you can also use it as serving area and work area. Designing one should compliment with your space, taste, also considering your budget.

A place to relax, prepare for the day, gather yourself. A spot with elbow room, plants, your favorite magazine close by, and the most important of course is the lighting. It has to have morning sun. Thats a good design.
