w.C. Sellar first published the book in 1931 as "1066 AND ALL THAT - A Memorable History of England, comprising all the parts you can remember, including one hundred and three Good Things, five Bad Things and two Genuine dates." It has been reissued several times, most recently in 2006 in a 75th anniversary edition.

"1066 and All That" is a parody of the kind of history textbooks that were standard in British schools. It's full of historical "facts," but not really a history book.
