I believe, but am not positive, that all infomation the officer writes in must be correct--if not, it is possible that the ticket can get thrown out of court. i.E., lets say they spell your name wrong or transpose a number on the license or if the date is incorrect.

A ticket is merely a summons to court. It needs to tell you where and when to go to court, and your charge. Nothing else is required.

This will depend on the jurisdiction and whether it treats it as a quasi civil matter or a criminal matter. For example, in Washington, the contents of a speeding ticket are governed by state law (RCW) and also local court rule (IRLJ).

The ticket must include the location in which the offense occurred and your contact information. The ticket must include their full name and badge number. The ticket must also have your car's description and license plate information.
