Larp is role-playing just about anything, anyone, in any time from elves to dragons or anything mythical. On the other hand, Creative Anachronism is required to be more authentic and must be based on a person who could possibly have lived in a realistic timeframe.

The Society for Creative Anachronism is one genre of LARP. Their goal is to recreate pre-17th century European life (also known as Steampunk). LARPing is not restricted to that theme, as there are many other groups (Star Wars, Anime, etc.) as well.

The Society for Creative Anachronism is a group aimed at recreating Medieval European culture. LARP is broader, including groups who use role-playing in science fiction and other themed contexts

The two things indicated are not the same, as the SCA seems to be a re-enactment of past events. LARPing isn't a re-enactment of events, but a re-enactment of culture.

Well the branch is completely different than LARP, but it is one division of LARP. They focus on re-living medieval society.
