What foods are poison for rabbits?

I just got a new rabbit.

There are several foods you should avoid, most notably alfalfa. You should also avoid cabbages (also cauliflower and broccoli) because the rabbits can get tummy problems from those. Avoid starchy food as well. Your best bet is to feed them hay, pellets, and some vegetables (no lettuce though).

As with many species of animals, the nightshade family of plants can be toxic to rabbits. You should also avoid feeding your rabbit leafy greens that contain a lot of moisture as this can lead to upset of the digestive tract. Rabbits are also not able to digest dairy, meats and sugary treats, so these should be avoided as well.
