Monday 8/12/08 10:57 p. m. Lennon was killed outside his NYC apartment building by Mark David Chapman. Chapman called Lennon's name, fired five rounds. Four struck Lennon. One severed his aorta.

John Lennon was murdered 12/8/80 in New York City. He had gotten home after 10 pm after a hard night working in a recording studio. When he exited his limo to go into his apartment building, he was shot by Mark David Chapman, a persistant hanger-on around Lennon's home.
