Can you recommend a good book that details the events surrounding the JFK assassination?

I've seen some movies. I want to read what really happened.

Good grief, there are no end of books on the JFK assasination! A good, general, all around, just-the-facts-but-not-in-too-boring-detail is Six Seconds In Dallas. It is no longer in print, but you're sure to find it in your library. Still in print, Case Closed supports the lone-assassin theory, while Cover Up does a level-headed exploration of the conspiracy theories.

'Case Closed' by Gerald Posner is a good book that takes the conspiracy theories and debunks them thus looking at Oswald as a lone gunman and painting his biographical portrait and showing how he could have done it all by himself.

Deep Politics And The Death of JFK by Peter Dale scoptt is a great book on the subject of the murder of the President.

People disagree over which books are the best, but "Case Closed" by Gerald Posner is often praised for its unbiased approach.
