Property managers need basic knowledge in maintenance to supervise staff, financial management skills to maintain profitability, and people skills. A college degree in management (Associates minimum, Bachelors preferred) is important.

I think a degree in business management should be required for this job. In order to be a property manager you need to have certain skills, such as how to manage others, and in order to do that properly you need a professional education.

There are professional organizations for everything including Property Management. Research in your area, send a polite letter asking this same question. The answers you do get will be very useful.

Property management does not need specific education. You need to be good with people and able to juggle multiple tasks (basic logistics). The only formal training you should get would be related to the accounting that you will have to do. Basic book-keeping class should suffice.
