In typical cases the rash consists of small raised dark red spots mainly on the face and trunk.On dark skinned races the spots may appear dark brown or black.It is classed as a maculopapular rash in medical terms.It usually appears 2 to 3 weeks after infection with the HIV virus and can last from a few days to 2 weeks.

There is no precise looks with those that are HIV positive. If the immune system is weakened, a usual HIV rash will look slightly raised with something like a waxy chicken pox pimples, small and dark in color. In others it will look like a leprosy sick disorder that looks somewhat ashy
