What does niacin do?

Niacin is needed to produce two enzymes your body needs after you digest food. This happens during a process called the Krebs cycle. It also helps develop healthy skin and aids in the development of healthy nerves. Niacin also blocks the production of cholesterol and plays an important role in preventing heart disease.

Niacin is used in the medical community as a cholesterol reducing agent. Niacin has been found to lower the low HDL and small LDL and other triglyceride containing lipoproteins. by itself Niacin can lower the risk of heart attack by 25 to 30 percent.
