First you have to be good with your hands and be able to stand on your feet for a long time. If that is ok with you then you can check with your local technical college to take classes. When you graduate you should take your boards and receive your license.

A cosmetology degree usually takes at least a year and can be completed at a community college or vocational school. Once you have a degree, you can work as an independent contractor and do your own advertising and set your own price, or find a company to work for.

You will need to attend an accredited school where you will attend classes and work perfecting your skills. It takes 1600 to 2000 hours to get your license.
